A family of compact GPON OLTs — from a 1-port desktop unit to 4-port, 8-port and 16-port 1U Layer 3 models, each with 1:128 splitting, 20 km reach and 10GE uplinks.
One GPON platform family for sparse rural rollouts, MDUs, commercial buildings and mobile-site fiber — pick the port count that fits, keep the same management and ONT ecosystem.
1, 4, 8 or 16 GPON ports, each with 1:128 splitting and up to 20 km reach — right-size the OLT to the service area instead of over-buying chassis capacity.
Every U5 pairs GE RJ45 with SFP(GE)/SFP+(10GE) optical uplinks, so even the desktop U5-1 backhauls at 10G.
4,096 VLANs with QinQ and VLAN translation, IGMP snooping, port isolation, port rate limiting and storm control across the range.
The 1U models route at Layer 3 — static, RIP v1/v2, RIPng and OSPF v2/v3 with 4,096 hardware host routes; the desktop U5-1 adds static routing with NAT, DMZ and WAN access (DHCP / PPPoE / static IP).
ONT auto-discovery, link detection and remote software upgrade, with online ONT configuration and management from CLI, Web, SNMP or Telnet.
Desktop U5-1 on AC or a 12 V DC adapter; 1U models with 1× AC, 2× AC, 2× DC or 1× AC + 1× DC power configurations for equipment rooms, basements and shared wireless sites.
The U5-8 front panel — GPON ports, uplinks, management and indicators at a glance. The other 1U models follow the same layout.
Every model ships with its own datasheet (R01). Quotes are handled per model — just tell us the port count in your message.

The U5 is standards-based (ITU-T G.984.x) and interworks with ONUs from multiple vendors.
Contact us for the current ONT interoperability list for your deployment.
The U5 reference architecture pairs the OLT with a UGS3 Series aggregation switch on 10GE and UNT series ONTs at the subscriber — one vendor for the full access chain, with standards-based GPON keeping the ONT layer open.
GPON ONTs serve subscribers with GE, POTS and Wi-Fi at the premises.
U5 pricing is quoted per project, because the total depends on the configuration you deploy. The four factors that move it most:
1, 4, 8 or 16 GPON ports per unit — and how many units your service areas need. Cost per subscriber falls as port density rises.
SFP modules in Class B+, C, C+, C++ or C+++ set the optical budget for your splitter plant and reach; higher classes cost more per port. (U5-1 has built-in optics.)
GE versus 10GE SFP+ uplinks, and rack models with RIP/OSPF routing, add capability — and price — over a Layer 2-only build.
Single AC versus dual AC, dual DC or AC+DC feeds on the 1U models, for sites that cannot go down.

U5 is the cost-optimized GPON family; U10 adds XG(S)-PON combo ports for 10G PON migration and coexistence on the same fiber.

The U5 is one GPON OLT platform family in four port counts — U5-1 (1 port, desktop), U5-4 (4 ports), U5-8 (8 ports) and U5-16 (16 ports) — sharing the same management and ONT ecosystem, for rural rollouts, MDUs, commercial buildings and mobile-site fiber.
U5-1 is a single-port desktop OLT with built-in optics for FTTH, SOHO and small offices. U5-4 is a compact 1U Layer 3 OLT for small FTTx rollouts and remote sites. U5-8 is the versatile 1U for buildings, campuses and industrial parks, with 8 uplinks. U5-16 is the high-density 1U Layer 3 model (208 Gbps backplane) for larger access networks.
Yes. The U5 is standards-based (ITU-T G.984.x) and interworks with ONUs from multiple vendors; it is verified with UGrid's UNT series GPON ONTs, including the UNTGG130. Contact us for the current ONT interoperability list for your deployment.
Four factors: the port count (1, 4, 8 or 16 GPON ports per unit, and how many units you need), the PON optics class (SFP modules in Class B+, C, C+, C++ or C+++; the U5-1 has built-in optics), the uplinks and Layer 3 capability (GE versus 10GE SFP+, RIP/OSPF routing), and power redundancy (single AC versus dual AC, dual DC or AC+DC on the 1U models). Pricing is quoted per project — there are no published list prices.
